Resource Recovery

Resource Recovery

Climate change solutions must be globally scalable and replicable locally across locations, regions, and jurisdictions.    At 3F Resource Recovery, we are developing a unique algorithm for a soon-to-announced SaaS that brings our ‘by-product first’ business model to the world.    Whether you are a private enterprise, government, or natural resource organization, our model objectively predicts where investments in clean biotechnologies can transform sustainability of the value chain AND maximize profits from traditional resources, even in the face of declining quotas and harvests. To put it most simply: significantly more wealth and STEM jobs, while extracting fewer natural resources.

Using advanced statistical machine learning and data science models, our tool produces customized natural resource business models for identifying abundant but underutilized by-product feedstocks of fish, farm and forest processors that offer the best return on investment into clean and biotechnology applications to their by-product streams. Resource optimization sustains the rural and remote communities where the resources are extracted by bringing technological solutions that attract a skilled, younger workforce.  By using these by-products in more productive ways, the 3F Algorithm helps companies maximize profits and government and philanthropic organizations deliver long-lasting socioeconomic impacts.  Transitioning environmentally harmful industries into better alignment with the natural ecosystems they operate in benefits everyone and demonstrates 3F’s core value: “Doing Good is Good Business”.  Our unique matchmaking Software as a Service (SaaS) objectively identifies the most profitable uses of by-products and simultaneously diverts waste to create new economic value. Our proprietary algorithm considers more than 12 unique variables to accurately predict future quotas, volumes of raw materials and the future value of optimizing utilization of the resource. with bioprocessing. For example, this model applied to the wild caught groundfish fisheries of the world, increases the profit generated per fish by tenfold without increasing quotas or catches while retaining the majority of the economic value in the communities that harvest the fish and greatly reducing greenhouse gas emissions by not trucking around water weight and better utilizing empty backhauls.

Calling All Developers!

As we continue to expand our development, we’ll be looking for the best data scientists, programmers and statisticians in Atlantic Canada. A project of this magnitude demands the best minds, and we’re privileged to be working through local universities such as Dalhousie and the Memorial University of Newfoundland. If you think you have the skills to join our team, check our Careers page!

Attention Cleantech Entrepreneurs!

In accordance with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, 3F Resource Recovery is committed to building a global circular economy in fisheries, then all natural resources. Our software will help pair cleantech entrepreneurs worldwide with local by-product suppliers to generate new economic wealth and solve climate change challenges.

While 3F’s model and experience has focused primarily on groundfish in the Canadian fishery, we are seeking collaborative partnerships with progressive natural resource companies and climate concerned government organizations worldwide. By making use of our model, users can help attain their own B-Corp certification and move forward towards reaching their Net-Zero goals. So while we’re located in Canada, we can help bring global enterprises and SMEs into a more sustainable manufacturing model–one which applies novel biotechnologies within our proprietary “by-product first” framework.

Bringing 3F groundfish and shellfish biotechnologies to Nova Scotian fisheries!

In addition to our algorithm project, 3F Resource Recovery is bringing our Newfoundland-built circular fisheries bioeconomy business model to Nova Scotia. With the province’s resources in fish and shellfish, we will explore how to best utilize our collagen and chitosan intellectual property and novel pet treat production processes, to manufacture products adjacent to the resource, support rural communities and reduce gHg emissions associated with fish waste.  Importing raw materials and exporting finished products with local, US and EU suppliers and customers through the Port of Halifax is a top priority of 3F Resource Recovery!
